Do you know the difference between the various government agencies involved in processing visas? Here’s a little cheat sheet for you:

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (“USCIS”): Administers the naturalization and immigration system which includes processing immigration matters: work visas, asylum, and citizenship.

U.S. Department of State National Visa Center (“NVC”): Responsible for all pending immigration petitions are retained by the NVC until their decision.

U.S. Customers and Border Protection: This federal law enforcement agency of the US Department of Homeland Security enforces immigration, along with a number of other items.
